Today and tomorrow

Well i sold my Big (ish)Common Boa today, which i am very sad about, but i needed the room for my Corn collection so i had to say good-bye to him. Tomorrow brings on the greatest day, when i pick up my Candy Canes (orange and red, Male and Female), followed by a Pink Snow male and a Sunglow female. Woohoo, i cant believe my luck, as the sunglow won best corn last year. Cant wait to meet her, as she looks gorgous as do all the other 3, i am so excited as this kinda thing doesnt normally happen to me. Andy sold a pair of his Geckos today as well, so he is getting his collection sorted out, of which he wants to breed and which are to go, as he wants to make some stunning babies. He is slowing getting his Bearded dragon collection sorted as well, with 2 female adults and one male adult, which hopefully will may produce some eggs for us which will be great as the new beardie (see photos in gallery) has some lovely red in it. He also has another blood X female that is about 5/6 months, so that will be next years breeding sorted as well as a couple of other babies coming in the summer sometime, i think we are going to be over run with beardies lol.

New comers

Well whats happened this week, the day in the life of a rescue centre. We have been driving all over the county-side, to pick up 2 bearded dragons. Andy is over the moon with them and we cant thank Lesley and Cath enough for them, as they are really both fantastic and just what we were looking for in our growing family. They both are in such good condition and have been well looked after and loved by them so much, that we hope that we can do them justice with provided that level of care that they have had previous to us. We will update the gallery very soon with pictures of these very good looking reptiles.

"Tilly" my Blue tongue is due to drop anyday now so i am getting so excited about her and the birth etc that i cant leave her alone for long incase she needs me, she probably wont but cant help but worry anyway. All the corns eggs are down to about 4 outta 10 which is really sad, but still she is a first time mum so i should have expected that really. Still she has built herself back up now and is just going back into shed again for her post laying shed.

The ghost corn i have here still isnt showing any sign of eggs yet and has just shed so i dont think she is carring any this time, but i didnt see her mate with anyone so i guess she probably hasnt. The other candy cane and my snow both were confirmed matings but they arent showing any signs of eggs yet either so i guess they are just not ready to have any.

Alsom Andys fire skinks were seen mating which is fantastic as there are no records of anyone being able to breed them, so Andy is doing something right thats for sure.

Weekend from hell

Well after a very long weekend, with my Candy Cane only producing 2 eggs in 2 days, this morning when i woke up i was expecting to see, my candy cane, very ill or worse, due to completely knackering herself out trying to get the right place for her eggs. However, i was chuffed to bit when i found out this morning that she had laid me another 8 eggs and i even managed to watch her lay her last egg, i felt soo honoured that she felt she could share that with me, it was brilliant. So anyway that brings the total to 10 eggs, which was great, she deserves a long good rest and i will feed her tonight as well, to at least try and boost her energy levels back up. All the eggs look good, quite large, but all look white and none, so far look infertile, but that may change over the next couple of weeks.

Corn Eggs

  • Mood:

I cant believe it, my Candy Cane snake thats quite small, has just laid 1 egg!!! i am lets say disappointed as i thought i would have got a few more than that but still one is better than none i guess. The other females dont look like they are carring any eggs at the moment but still my snow has just mated again today so i guess there is still time for the rest to lay soon. I am really excited though and cant wait to see what i get out of the egg!!! Andy has been struggling trying to get his gecko eggs to hatch, and that must be soooo frustrating.

So i have to wait and see now what is going to happen about my other corns and if they decide to lay as well. So back to the waiting game again.

Corns

Well, i have some rather fat looking corns bless them, so hopefully i will get some eggs soon. I am sure that one of the candy canes is going to be ready to lay sometime next weeks, which will be fantastic. I am so excited that i really cant wait for them to come. we know then that all the hard work i have put in to them, is finally paying off. not sure that i will want to part with any yet though, but we will have to wait and see what morphs i have.

Tilly on the other hand, is dragging her pregnancy out, and i have been waiting (what seems like) ages for her to produce. I have now under a month to wait as she should have had them by the 20 april so time is getting here, very slowly. I am so excited about them, that its killing me to wait any longer, but i know i have to be patient before i will become a grand-ma!

Well i will keep everything posted on here, so everyone can see and get just as excited as we are about having them.

Sad day

Well last weeks updates for now are like this; I picked up a pair of berber skinks last week that needed rehoming and some love and attention. They are lovely and really quite friendly bless them, and now they have settled in really well and are doing well, which is really nice to see. I also found out that i could sell my 2 male corns due to having 4 males here, which is quite enough for now with all my females here as well. So i have put to up for sale anyway so will see what happens then. Also i have picked up some really small baby corns that are so emicated and are suffering from lots of neglect at present i am just hoping that i can bring them back round before its too late. I have had all feeding though which is half the battle as well as they are shedding all intact also, which makes all the difference so i have my fingers crossed for them. We also sold one of our beardie babies yesterday to a very nice family, that we know will love and cherish it as much as we do. We also had another family come and buy a viv that they had won on ebay, and they ended up buying our last 2 baby beardies, which again i know will love and cherish them. Its so nice to meet such genuine people that care as much as we do about the reptiles that they own. I am hoping that this week may be less hectic and we can concentrate on all our reptiles this week, as i have still got Tilly, Tara and snow, ghost, and 2 candy canes, all due to have babies and eggs this month so i need to be around for all of them. Its getting really exciting about all the new babies coming here as well, and i feel like an expectant mum X midwife. Cant believe that we have managed to breed this babies, as i feel its such an honour, to own some so adorable creatures let alone be able to get them to breed, as it shows we must be doing something right anyway.

Long drive but well worth it!

Well drove up to Stoke-on-Trent yesterday, which took about 3 hours all in total, and it was a fairly good run up there. I was taking the Water Dragons to their new home and re-homing my Morphus (adult Royal) there as well. On arrival to drop my Royal off, My friends Mark and Emma, (in stoke) had had a phone call about a pair of Pink tongued skinks, so i jumped at them big time, as i really fancied some of them. So we have them at home as well, now little cuties i will be putting up some piccys of them when i get some done. also at Marks and Emma's i have picked up my 2 lovely Boa's that are going to be for future breeding projects later on so really chuffed with them. One thinks its a king cobra i think and does nothing but hiss at me lol.

Then after Stoke i travelled to Tracy and Reubens with their Water Dragons, which was really cool, and they were really happy with them which is even better. Tracy also gave me a Male, leopard Gecko so he is going to have a couple of female companions soon as well.

So all though it was a long day, all in all, it was well worth it, the Water Dragons are in thier new homes and so is the royal, and also both the boa's are happy and so are the pink tongues and the gecko. I reckon it was about a 7hour round trip driving which was a heavy slog, but now i can rest a while and take a good deep breath knowing i wont have to do that again for a while.
